Following the visit to the dining room, we walk through the corridor towards the tower where we can see more works of the 20th century, from the naturalist painter, Max Römer (1878-1960), as well as some English prints portraying trends from the end of the 18th and beginning of the 19th centuries. Going up narrow and steep steps, we reach the top of the tower where we can appreciate some awesome sea views, thus the designation avista navios (ship ahoy), and some stunning mountain views. The tower, with its eclectical traditional 19th century Madeiran furniture, also shows us a variety of European prints ranging from the mid 18th to the beginning of the 19th centuries. Special attention should be given to a Portuguese mahogany armchair that shows a beautiful intricate wood carving.
Of interest, a painting on glass with a carved gilded wood frame, originating from a Portuguese workshop from the end of the 18th century, as well as a romantic painting, portraying a Lady, probably from an English workshop. Also an homage to the book A Corte do Norte, written by the great Portuguese writer, Agustina Bessa-Luís, citing some parts of the book that refer to Ponta Delgada.
